Prince William got a good laugh this week during an official photo shoot in Cardiff, Wales when he pulled a prank about his backside.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were visiting the Welsh capital on Tuesday, October 3 for Black History Month.
They posed with members of the Windrush Generation, Caribbean immigrants who settled in Britain between 1948 and 1973.
Prince William’s prank in Cardiff
As the group lined up for the official photo, William exclaimed, “Who’s pinching my bottom?”.
This quip elicited giggles from the crowd, including a giggling Kate. Their gleeful reactions were caught on camera.
Far from being offended, members of the Windrush community seemed delighted with the prince’s humor.
Although unusual for the reserved Windsors, William’s quip was compared to his late grandmother’s pranks to liven up ceremonies.
Queen Elizabeth II was known for witty banter at photo shoots to put nervous attendees at ease.
TikTok user royal_secrets24 compared William’s banter to that of Elizabeth II at a G7 event showing her asking world leaders, “Are you supposed to be looking as if you are enjoying yourselves?” sparking laughter from those in attendance.

There is no doubt, William’s cheeky question sparked similar glee among the Cardiff crowd.
William also endeared himself to the group by affectionately embracing those in attendance while joking around.
This direct approach provided a memorable royal encounter.
Although William briefly provoked laughter with his cheeky banter, the day ultimately highlighted the couple’s commitment to honoring Britain’s diversity.
