The recent news of Princess Beatrice’s pregnancy has been received with enthusiasm, although not without a little stumble that did not go unnoticed by followers of the royal family.
On October 1, Buckingham Palace used its official social media to share the happy news that Beatrice, daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, is expecting her second child with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
The announcement, which generated joy among royal fans, read:
“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together early in the new year; a sibling for Wolfie and Sienna. His Majesty The King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”
However, the joy was marred by a typographical slip-up that many noticed immediately.

Princess Beatrice’s Pregnancy Announcement
Instead of “Highness”, the statement contained the error of writing “Highess”. Followers of the royal family were quick to point out the fault on social media.
Some comments, collected by media such as the Daily Express, reflected the surprise of netizens:
- “Do they not read what they wrote before they post?”
- Another one added: “Her Royal Highness*.”
- A third one said: “They spelt ‘Highness’ not ‘highness’. The palace missed the N.”
Given the attention generated by the error, Buckingham Palace removed the original post and republished it with the appropriate correction.

Like Eugenie, Ferguson posted previously unpublished family photos, including an image of her with her daughter and granddaughter in a garden, as well as snapshots of Beatrice with Sienna and a black-and-white photo of the Duchess of York embracing Beatrice and Eugenie.
“A very proud GiGi/Mum today. Such an incredible blessing and an embrace to my heart. Wolfie, August, Ernie and Sienna will be over the moon to have the fifth member of the five-a-side!” Sarah wrote on Instagram.
