Meghan Markle paid an emotional tribute to Princess Diana during the second day of her visit to Colombia.
The Duchess of Sussex used fashion to keep the memory of the late princess alive.
Princess Diana’s Butterfly Earrings
This Friday, August 16, Meghan was spotted wearing a pair of butterfly earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana.
This sentimental choice came during the second day of her and Prince Harry’s trip to Colombia, when they visited La Giralda School in Santa Fe.
It is worth noting that La Giralda School was nominated among the 10 best in the world selected by the prestigious World’s Best School Prizes, organized by T4 Education, a global platform that brings together more than 200,000 teachers in over 100 countries to “transform education”.
While interacting with the preschool class and touring the school’s facilities, the Duchess of Sussex wore the delicate earrings, adding a personal and emotional connection to the visit.
These butterfly earrings have deep significance, as they recall Princess Diana’s bond with children.
Diana first wore these earrings during a trip to Canada in May 1986, when Prince Harry was just a baby.
Although Diana never had the opportunity to meet the women her children would marry, both Meghan and Kate Middleton have found meaningful ways to honor her legacy through their fashion choices.
Meghan has kept these butterfly earrings in her collection for years, wearing them on several significant occasions.
She first debuted the earrings in October 2018 during a visit to Australia, shortly after announcing her pregnancy with her and Harry’s first child, Archie.
She then wore them again in fall 2019 for the launch of a capsule collection of clothing to benefit Smart Works, a charity she supports.
These butterfly earrings, aren’t the only pieces of jewelry Meghan owns that once belonged to Princess Diana.
Meghan has an aquamarine ring, a diamond tennis bracelet, two diamonds from Diana’s collection in the engagement ring Harry gave her in 2017, among other pieces.
