This Tuesday, July 23, the Belgian royal family celebrated a very special moment: the graduation of Princess Elisabeth from Oxford University.
Following in the footsteps of other young royals, such as Princess Leonor of Spain, Elisabeth has proven to be more than ready for the challenges ahead.
This event not only marked the closing of an era, but was also a perfect occasion to observe the impeccable styles of Queen Mathilde and Princess Eleonore, who accompanied Elisabeth along with the rest of her family.
Graduation of Princess Elisabeth of Belgium
Princess Elisabeth, only 22 years old, has just received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Politics from Oxford, one of the most prestigious universities in the world and the same alma mater of her father, King Philippe of Belgium.
This achievement comes after having completed her bachelor’s degree in Wales at the age of 19, at the same institution where Spain’s Infanta Sofia is currently studying.
To celebrate this milestone, the Belgian royal family gathered in Oxford, showing pride and excitement for the future of Elisabeth, who will soon begin a new stage at Harvard, where she will pursue a two-year master’s degree in public policy.
Mathilde and Eleonore: Elegance at the Celebration
Queen Mathilde dazzled at the graduation in a pleated red dress by Natan, one of her favorite brands.
This design, with an elegant boat neckline and batwing sleeves, stood out for its flared skirt that shimmered thanks to the satin finish of the fabric. A thick belt cinched the dress to her waist, creating a slim and sophisticated figure.
To complete the outfit, Mathilde opted for caramel-colored pumps and a pink handbag with a link handle, bringing a lovely contrast to her outfit.
Although it should be noted that this dress was not a premiere, as she had already worn it on other occasions.
The young Princess Eleonore, for her part, continues to forge her own style, more daring than that of her sister Elisabeth.
For the occasion, Eleonore chose a dress from the French firm Maje.
At only 16 years old, the princess opted for a design with a V-neckline, gathered sash belt and asymmetrical skirt, made in a fluid fabric with white floral print and green stripes.
This look reflects modern trends and stands out for its similarity in cut to her mother’s dress, sharing the focus on the waist and wide sleeves.
Traditional Oxford Elegance
As for Princess Elisabeth, her graduation attire was true to traditional Oxford protocol.
She wore a long-sleeved white shirt, with a black ribbon over the neckline, paired with a dark pencil skirt, black stockings and formal shoes.
This attire reflects the strict academic etiquette of the university, which requires formal dress in all its ceremonies.
The simplicity and sobriety of Elisabeth’s look contrasts with the more colorful styles of her mother and sister, but they did not fail to stand out on this memorable occasion.
