Princess Eugenie has opened up about what she calls the “most special, mind-blowing experience” of her life: becoming a mother.
Known for keeping her private life largely under wraps, she shared her thoughts during a charity event, offering a glimpse into her parenting journey.
Princess Eugenie Shares Insights on Her Journey as a Mother
The daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Eugenie is married to Jack Brooksbank, and together they have two sons, August, who is three, and one-year-old Ernest.
While discussing her role as a parent during an interview for The Anti-Slavery Collective—an organization she co-founded with Julia de Boinville in 2017—Eugenie emphasized how her children “make my world go around.” She reflected on the impact of motherhood on her dedication to important causes, particularly in relation to modern slavery.
“Becoming a parent is the most special, mind-blowing experience of a person’s life,” she stated. Eugenie expressed her desire to educate her children and young people about being vulnerable, sensitive, and empathetic. “I don’t want anyone to reach the age of 21 without having heard about modern slavery, like I did,” she added.
In a previous conversation with Hello!, Eugenie noted that having children has also heightened her awareness of environmental issues.
“Since August came into my life, it’s positively impacted my desire to do more,” she remarked. She highlighted how parenthood shifts priorities, stating, “You want to do everything you can for them—and for your grandchildren. August is only two, but I hope that what I’m doing will seep through to him, and that one day he takes it on, too.”
Eugenie and Jack’s journey into parenthood began on February 9, 2021, when they welcomed their first son, August. Unlike traditional royal announcements, the couple chose to share their joy through a heartfelt black-and-white photo on Instagram, accompanied by three blue heart emojis, just ten hours after his birth. Their approach resonated with many, quickly attracting thousands of likes.
They embraced a similar modern approach last year when announcing the birth of their second son, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, born on May 30.
The announcement featured an adorable image of August resting his hand on his little brother’s head, showcasing the bond between the two siblings.
