After spending some time living in Portugal with her family, Princess Eugenie plans to return to the UK.
The daughter of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew is motivated by a greater involvement with the royal family and a certain nostalgia for her home.
Princess Eugenie’s return to the UK
Sources close to the princess revealed to OK! that Eugenie feels she must return due to her increased royal commitments.
The granddaughter of Elizabeth II is expected to take on more responsibilities representing the Crown, especially at charity events with organizations such as the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.
She could even fill in for other royals at certain events when they are unable to attend.
Undoubtedly, this increased activity would be difficult to manage with Eugenie living abroad.
Another influential motive behind her plans to return is the princess’s homesickness for the UK.
According to sources, despite enjoying Portugal, she does not see it as a permanent home to raise her children.
Eugenie longs for her family to spend more time with the rest of the British royals.
It should be recalled that the princess had left for Portugal partly because she felt abandoned by the royal family in the face of the constant scandals affecting the image of her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
If the return is finalized, Eugenie will be able to settle in one of the many royal residences available when they are not occupied, such as Kensington Palace or Frogmore Cottage. She even has exclusive use of a private home in central London provided by her mother.
In short, the increase in Princess Eugenie’s royal responsibilities as a result of a smaller monarchy, added to the nostalgia for her homeland, makes it likely that her stay in Portugal will come to an end in the short term.
The granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II is preparing to resume a more important role in support of the British Crown.
