As the Princess of Wales, Princess Kate stands as the most prominent female member of the royal family after Queen Camilla.
Since her marriage to Prince William in 2011, she has had the honor of wearing some of the royal family’s most exquisite jewels, including dazzling necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and, of course, spectacular tiaras.
Once a staple at receptions, galas, and grand balls, tiaras are now reserved for special occasions, making their public appearances highly anticipated events.
Typically, there are two significant occasions each year where tiaras are expected to make an appearance: the state banquet hosted by the king at Buckingham Palace for visiting heads of state and the annual diplomatic corps reception attended by ambassadors and high commissioners in Britain.
Queen Elizabeth II was known for lending some of her most cherished pieces to Kate, a tradition that King Charles III has continued.

Cartier Halo Tiara
The Cartier Halo Tiara holds a special place in Princess Kate’s collection as it was the first tiara she wore on her wedding day in April 2011 at Westminster Abbey.
This sentimental jewel was originally purchased in 1936 by King George VI for his wife, Elizabeth, known as The Queen Mother. It was later passed down to Queen Elizabeth II for her 18th birthday and has also been lent to other royal family members, including Princess Margaret and Princess Anne.
Since her wedding, Kate has not worn this tiara again.
Lotus Flower Tiara
Another stunning piece in Kate’s tiara collection is the Lotus Flower Tiara, also owned by the late Queen Mother.
This tiara was crafted from a necklace given to her as a wedding gift in 1923. It can be worn either as a traditional tiara or as a fashionable bandeau, reminiscent of the 1920s style.
Kate first donned this tiara at her inaugural state banquet in 2015, where she welcomed President Xi Jinping of China. She wore it again in 2022 during King Charles III’s first diplomatic reception and most recently in 2024 when it was lent to Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh.
Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara
The Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara is another iconic piece associated with Princess Kate.
Commissioned in 1913 by Queen Mary, this tiara features a diamond frame adorned with swinging pearls and diamond bows. It was previously worn by Queen Elizabeth II in the early years of her reign and became particularly famous when it was lent to Princess Diana for her wedding in 1981.
Kate first wore this tiara during the Buckingham Palace diplomatic reception in 2015, and it has since become her go-to piece for formal occasions.
Strathmore Rose Tiara
In a delightful surprise for royal jewelry enthusiasts, Princess Kate made her debut with the Strathmore Rose Tiara during a state banquet for the President of South Korea in November 2023.
This beautiful tiara, adorned with five large diamond roses and trailing diamond leaves, was given to the Queen Mother by her parents in 1923.
Although the Queen Mother wore it primarily as a bandeau, it was inherited by Queen Elizabeth II and later passed on to King Charles III.
Each of these tiaras in addition to adding a touch of glamour to Kate’s appearances, also holds a story behind it.
