After six months apart, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía were reunited.
The heir to the throne is already at the Zarzuela Palace enjoying a few days of rest, just before embarking on the frigate Blas de Lezo on June 14.
During this brief interlude, the sisters spent time together in private, something they were unable to do either on Sofía’s 18th birthday or at her recent graduation in Wales.
Leonor and Sofía Back Together
According to experts on royal affairs, this reunion was intimate and emotional. In addition to celebrating everything that was pending, it allowed Sofía to tell her sister about her doubts regarding the start of her university life, a decision she has not yet made.
Meanwhile, Leonor is preparing to return to sea and continue her military training.
Her stay on the frigate will be short. Leonor will stop in Ceuta on June 23 for a 48-hour break, and later she will leave the ship in early July.
From then on, the two will be together again for part of the summer, although with their sights set on a fall of new separations.
In September, Leonor will begin the final year of her military training in San Javier, while Sofía could start university, unless she chooses to take a gap year.
The reunion between the sisters has been a respite for both of them before they embark on new responsibilities.
