The Princess of Asturias could have a prominent participation in the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the Spanish Constitution, which will take place in December at the Congress of Deputies.

La Zarzuela Palace is already considering the possibility of the Princess giving a speech at the celebration of the Spanish Magna Carta.

As reported by the Spanish portal Monarquía Confidencial, through sources close to the Royal House, Leonor will attend the event and is likely to deliver a speech.

If it happens, it would be the first official event after having been sworn into the constitution, which would be another sign of the institutional role that the young heiress is acquiring in her coming of age.

Leonor already had a significant participation last October 31, when she took the oath to the Constitution on her coming of age, an important milestone in her formation as a future queen.

On that occasion, the princess read a brief speech in which she pledged to faithfully fulfill her duties and to keep and uphold the Constitution.

Now, barely a month and a half later, Leonor will return to Congress to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Spanish Magna Carta.

Although there is still no definite date for the event, which was postponed because it initially coincided with a holiday, there is speculation that it could be during the week of December 4-7.

There, Leonor would have a central role and it is likely that she would again address the attendees to highlight the importance of this founding document of Spanish democracy.

It is worth remembering that the 1978 Constitution put an end to almost 40 years of dictatorship in Spain and brought with it fundamental rights and freedoms. It was approved by a popular referendum on December 6 of that year.

Leonor’s participation in this anniversary is an ideal preparation for her future role as queen.

Already the heir to the throne is demonstrating great maturity and ability to function in the institutional sphere.
