Princess Leonor has set foot in Cartagena de Indias as part of her training aboard the training ship Juan Sebastian Elcano.
The Colombian city welcomed her with warmth, local music and a lot of curiosity to the crown princess.
Princess Leonor Arrives in Colombia
During her arrival, she was seen smiling, greeting the citizens who approached the port. She was accompanied by her fellow trainees, all visibly enthusiastic.
Despite the protocol nature of the trip, the atmosphere was relaxed and close. The Puerto Azul Music School of the Puerto Colombia Foundation welcomed them.
Although the plan is for her to keep a low profile during her stay in the city, Leonor will not exactly be on vacation.
She has scheduled naval maneuvers, land training and daily tasks supervised by Spanish and Colombian authorities.
Her agenda also includes moments of rest, which she will probably take advantage of to get to know a bit more of Cartagena’s historical and cultural charm.
So far, the princess has demonstrated that she knows how to move with ease in these contexts. In previous stopovers, such as the one in Valparaiso, she was seen sharing an informal dinner with her companions at a local restaurant, with no apparent concern for protocol.
The stop in Cartagena is part of the final leg of the trip. The Dominican Republic and New York will follow, before returning home.
When he returns to Spain, there will still be a few points left on the route, such as Gijón, Ferrol and Marín, before finishing in Cádiz, where it all began in January.
For Leonor, this experience is the step prior to her entry into the General Air and Space Academy, which awaits her this summer in San Javier, Murcia.
