Princess Leonor of Spain, 17, has been the protagonist on the cover of the renowned French magazine ‘Point de Vue’.

The magazine specializing in royal houses has chosen the eldest daughter of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, to analyze the moments that the heir to the throne is about to live this year.

The photograph chosen for the cover was taken last October in Oviedo, during the audiences for the Princess of Asturias Award recipients.

The French magazine has entitled: “Leonor of Spain: a year of challenges”, and in a smaller caption: “In a context of controversy”.

In the article, they analyze the new challenges that Leonor de Borbón will have to assume after finishing her studies at UWC Atlantic College. The heiress to the throne will have to start her military training next September.

“After her baccalaureate, Leonor will have to begin the first part of her training as heir to the crown. As the future supreme leader of the Armed Forces, she will have to receive military training,” they explain.

They detail the three courses that Leonor will have to go through to learn first-hand about the three armies (land, air, and sea), as a future captain-general.

There is also talk of the swearing-in of the Constitution, which should take place when she comes of age, next October 31.

“By tradition, the big day should coincide with the 18th birthday of the princess, October 31. Several controversies erupted over this event. The first emanates from the criticisms of the Podemos representatives, qualifying the act as medieval.” Also, “the next legislative elections must be called on November 10 at the latest. This implies a dissolution of the Cortes several weeks before the call to the polls”, so it will coincide with the swearing-in of Leonor, so it is very likely that such an important activity will take place in 2024.

The article reflects on the role that the Princess of Asturias has as heir and future queen who “has had to deal with the instability that reigns in Spain.”

When will Princess Leonor return to Spain?

Leonor will return to Spain next April 6 and will be on vacation for 10 days. On April 16 she will have to repack her things for the last time to go to Wales.

Nothing is confirmed, but probably the Princess will take advantage of her stay to carry out at least one official act.
