Princess Leonor, heir to the Spanish throne, was recently honored with several distinctions awarded by the Government of Aragón.
The ceremony took place in Zaragoza, where the princess received a warm welcome from the people of Aragón before being awarded the highest honors.

Medal of the Cortes of Aragón
The main event was held at the historic Aljafería Palace, the seat of the Cortes of Aragón.
The Princess was received with honors and greetings from members of the Board and Spokespersons’ Committee, as well as from former presidents of the Cortes.
The chief legal officer of the Cortes, Carmen Rubio, began the ceremony with the reading of the agreement to award the Medal of the Cortes of Aragón.
Subsequently, the president of the Cortes, accompanied by the former presidents, presented the medal to Her Royal Highness.
This medal, created in 1986, is the highest honor awarded by the regional parliament to recognize the work of individuals and organizations that defend the values and identity of Aragón.
Next, the Princess toured the rooms of the Aljafería Palace, signing the guest book, a tradition that marks recognition and gratitude towards Aragón’s history and culture.
She was accompanied by prominent personalities, including the President of the Government of Aragón, José Antonio Azcón; the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles; and the Mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca, among others.

In another significant event held at La Seo del Salvador in Zaragoza, Princess Leonor received the Medal of Aragón, the highest honor awarded by the Aragonese government.
The President of the Government of Aragón highlighted in his speech the special sensitivity and affection the Princess has shown towards Aragón.
The decree of award emphasizes the gratitude of the Aragonese people towards the Princess.
The ceremony included the performance of the Aragonese anthem and the reading of the award agreement by the Secretary-General of the Presidency, Juan Pérez.
In her speech, the Princess expressed her deep gratitude and recalled how her father had a similar experience nearly 40 years ago, reflecting the continuity and connection with the region.
Title of Adoptive Daughter of Zaragoza
Finally, at the Zaragoza City Hall, Her Royal Highness was named an Adoptive Daughter of the city.
This title, approved by the municipal council on April 25, aims to record the city’s affection and recognition towards the Princess of Asturias.
The Mayor of Zaragoza presented the staff of office, and after signing the guest book, the award agreement was read.
This honor is given to individuals who have stood out in various fields and have rendered services for the benefit of the city.
These decorations reflect Princess Leonor’s deep connection with Aragón, following the tradition established by her father.
