After 22 days sailing the high seas, the training ship Juan Sebastián Elcano has reached its first destination in America.
The emblematic vessel of the Spanish Navy docked in the port of Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, on February 14, marking a milestone in its voyage.
Among the 75 midshipmen on board is Princess Leonor, who continues her military training on this historic expedition.

Upon her arrival, the young heir to the throne was photographed at the traditional greeting ceremony, raising her cap alongside her shipmates, with a smile that reflected the enthusiasm of the moment.
The reception included a warm welcome by a musical performance of the Brazilian Armed Forces, which accompanied the crew’s disembarkation.
As part of the official itinerary, the midshipmen will participate in the commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the recovery of Salvador de Bahia from the Dutch, a historic episode in which a Spanish-Portuguese fleet played a key role.
In addition, on February 15, the Jura de Bandera, a solemn act in which representatives of the Spanish community and local authorities will be present, will take place.
Before arriving in Brazil, Casa Real shared several images of Princess Leonor on board, capturing moments prior to her arrival on the South American coast.
In them, the future queen can be seen dressed in the Navy’s short uniform, a necessary adaptation to face the country’s high temperatures.
After this first stopover in Salvador de Bahía, the Juan Sebastián Elcano will continue its voyage through America.
Her next destination will be Uruguay, where she is scheduled to arrive on March 5, adding another significant experience to Princess Leonor’s naval training.
