Leonor of Borbón By Robert Marquez

Princess Leonor Impresses With Parachute Training

For months, there had been no images of Leonor in action at the General Air and Space Academy, and then, all of a sudden, the Royal Household released everything at once.

A series of photos and videos show the heir to the throne completing the Basic Parachuting Course at the “Méndez Parada” Military School, located at the Alcantarilla Air Base in Murcia.

A harness, a jumpsuit, a helmet, and a look of concentration on her face that leaves no doubt this was no symbolic training.

Princess Leonor is awarded the title of Paratrooper

The highlight of all the visuals is the final ceremony, where Leonor receives her diploma and the “Paratrooper” badge alongside the rest of her classmates. It’s not an honorary title; it’s an accreditation that places her at the same operational level as any member of the paratrooper units in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Civil Guard.

    Princess Leonor’s parachute jump

The night jump is perhaps the most powerful scene. The darkness, the descent, and the coordination with the rest of the group demonstrate the course’s demanding nature. It’s a training that’s not handed out for free.
You either pass or you don’t. And she did it.

The photos inside the transport plane, at the starting line, reveal a tension that cannot be faked. Leonor wasn’t just an observer; she was right in the thick of it.

The Army values the ability to work as a team, and the heiress fits that dynamic. There’s no hint of pretense.
Just physical effort, focus, and noticeable progress with each exercise.

Along with the fighter jet flights we were already familiar with, this parachute training paints a picture that few European heiresses to the throne can match in terms of real military training.

La Princesa de Asturias ha finalizado el Curso Básico de Paracaidismo en la Escuela Militar de Paracaidismo Méndez Parada, en la Base Aérea de Alcantarilla (Murcia).
