Princess Leonor, 17, will have to take on a new challenge in her preparation to become the Queen of Spain. The young heiress will begin her military training as one of the indispensable requirements to assume the crown.
Leonor, Princess of Asturias, will finish this May her academic training at the UWC Atlantic College in Wales where she studies for her International Baccalaureate, and after a couple of months, she will join the Armed Forces at the General Military Academy in Zaragoza.
When will Princess Leonor enter the Military Academy?
It has been the Zarzuela Palace itself that has confirmed the date when Leonor will start her military stage. The princess will enter the Armed Forces on August 17, 2023, where she will begin her military training following in the footsteps of her father, King Felipe VI.
The Undersecretary of Defense, Adoración Mateos, was the one who approved the resolution that sets the schedule for the entry of new students into the officer training academies for the 2023/2024 academic year.
On the day of admission, Leonor will not be alone.
“The new students may be accompanied by up to a maximum of four family members or relatives, for whom, if health circumstances permit and if they so wish, a tour of the Academy facilities of approximately two hours duration is planned,” so it is established in a text released by the Military Academy.
