I confess that Princess Leonor will not exactly have a quiet year.
On September 1, she will begin her training at the General Air Academy, at the San Javier base in Murcia, to complete the final stage of her military training.
Leonor arrives at this stage after a very family-oriented summer and an intense second year, which included her voyage on the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano and official events such as the Princess of Girona Awards.
In San Javier, she will follow a curriculum adapted to her special schedule, as her time at each academy is shorter than that of her classmates.
Among the subjects are Aerospace Sciences, Air Traffic Management, and Aerospace Planning and Works. She will even have to complete a final project to obtain a degree that, as of this year, is recognized as a university master’s degree.
And yes, everything points to us seeing images of Leonor piloting planes or helicopters, just as King Felipe did when he was in her place.
Her appointment as a cadet second lieutenant in the General Corps of the Air and Space Force is now official, published in the BOE on July 23. Even so, it won’t all be barracks life. Leonor will have to go out on key dates to fulfill her agenda as heiress.
The most eagerly awaited moment will be on October 24, when she will preside over the Princess of Asturias Awards in Oviedo alongside her parents and sister. And, if she follows tradition, we will also see her on October 12 at the Hispanic Day parade in Madrid.
When this academic year ends, Leonor will have completed all her military training and will be free to start university, which, if she follows in her father’s footsteps, will mark a new stage in her preparation as future queen.
One more chapter in a journey that will take her to the Spanish throne.
