Leonor de Borbón has already officially begun her training at the Naval Academy of Marín, where she entered with determination this Thursday afternoon.
Her first day has been nothing less than intense and full of activities, as evidenced by the photographs and videos shared by the Royal Household, where the Princess of Asturias appears participating in various tasks with her new classmates, with whom she has barely been living together for 24 hours.
Princess Leonor’s first day at the Naval Academy
The day began with the presentation of badges, an act in which the first-born of King Felipe and Queen Letizia received the distinction of “distinguished student”, an award that was also given to other classmates who met the requirements during the previous year.
This award highlights those who have demonstrated excellence in grades, instruction, training and disciplinary behavior.
In Leonor’s case, the proposal for her distinction came from the General Military Academy of Zaragoza, where she completed her training with honors last year, receiving her office of ensign from the hands of her father, King Felipe VI, before the proud gaze of Queen Letizia and her sister, the Infanta Sofia.
After this solemn ceremony, an inter-brigade sports competition was held. Leonor, changing her Navy uniform for a tracksuit with the official colors, participated actively with her team, the third brigade, and, to everyone’s joy, they managed to reach the first position in the training, standing out as the best of the day.
However, the most exciting moment of the day came when the princess, once again in uniform, had her first experience at sea during a naval training session.
Together with her companions, Leonor embarked on one of Marin’s ships to learn and practice different maneuvers, demonstrating her willingness and enthusiasm for this new stage.
This is one of the few occasions in which we see the young princess sailing, a passion that has been part of her family for generations, from her great-grandfather Juan, Count of Barcelona, to her father, King Felipe VI.
Although until now she did not seem to have inherited that taste, her new training in the Spanish Navy will take her to get to know the marine world more closely, an experience that will undoubtedly be enriching.
The Naval Academy of Marin will be her home for the next few months, at least until January, when she is scheduled to embark on the ship Juan Sebastian Elcano to participate in a training cruise, adding more experiences to her already outstanding military career.
