Princess Leonor has just marked another highlight of her visit to New York. From the stern of the ship, surrounded by Spanish citizens living in the United States, the heir to the throne took part in a solemn flag-swearing ceremony.
The ceremony was led by Commander Luis Carreras-Presas and attended by the Spanish ambassador to Washington, Ángeles Moreno Bau.
Leonor at the flag-swearing ceremony in NYC
This event is part of a series of swearing-in ceremonies in which Leonor has participated throughout the trip. The previous two took place in Uruguay and Colombia.
On this occasion, the New York setting gave the ceremony a special touch for those who were able to swear allegiance to the Spanish flag from another continent.
Since arriving in New York on June 4, Leonor has participated in several activities, such as attending Carnegie Hall, where she enjoyed a concert by the orchestra of the Teatro Real in Madrid.
Seated among some twenty midshipmen, the princess was attentive during the acclaimed performance by young violinist María Dueñas, who played Korngold’s Opus 35.
With New York as her last international stop, Leonor is preparing to return to Spain.
