Princess Leonor lived a day full of emotions this Wednesday, July 3, at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza.
The future queen of Spain received from the hands of her father, King Felipe VI, the office of lady ensign and the Grand Cross of Military Merit with white badge.
The ceremony was also attended by Queen Letizia and Infanta Sofia, creating a familiar and meaningful atmosphere.
Princess Leonor’s graduation ceremony as an Ensign
The King and Queen and Princess Sofia arrived at the central square of the academy, where the ceremony began with the Spanish anthem.
After reviewing and greeting the authorities present, King Felipe presented his daughter with the office of lady ensign cadet, a moment that stood out for its emotionality.
The most touching moment of the day came when the King embraced his daughter as he handed her the office of ensign.
Princess Leonor, who had maintained a serious expression in keeping with the solemnity of the event, smiled shyly in response to her father’s show of affection.
In the background, Queen Letizia and Infanta Sofia watched the ceremony with great joy.
As Leonor approached them, mother and daughter embraced each other, visibly moved.
The Infanta Sofia, always complicit with her older sister, also gave her an affectionate cuddle, underlining the close relationship between the two sisters.
This event marks the end of Princess Leonor’s first year of military training at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza (AGM).
Among the attendees were the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, and the President of Aragón, Jorge Azcón, along with other civilian and military authorities.
Royal decrees were also delivered to the lieutenants who concluded their five years of training at the AGM, both from the Army and the Civil Guard.
The ceremony concluded with a parade in the main avenue, the order to break ranks and the traditional tossing of berets into the air, a symbol of celebration and camaraderie.
Princess Leonor will continue her training at the Navy Academy in Marín (Pontevedra) at the end of August, where she will continue her military training.
