Princess Leonor, heir to the throne, is facing an unexpected change in her Christmas plans.
Although she finished her term at the Escuela Naval de Marín last December 20 and was enjoying a few days off in Madrid, her vacation will be shortened due to adjustments in her training schedule.
Princess Leonor’s Holiday
Initially, the eldest daughter of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia was planning to stay in Madrid until January 11, when she would resume her training as a midshipman on the Juan Sebastián de Elcano Training Ship.
According to the plan, Leonor and her companions would embark in Cadiz for a 140-day voyage that would include visits to nine countries.
However, the Ministry of Defense has announced a change of plans.
Now, the princess and her companions will have to embark three days earlier than planned, on January 8.
From Cadiz, the ship will sail to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and then visit destinations such as Gran Canaria, Peru, Chile, Brazil, Uruguay and New York.
The voyage will culminate on July 21 in Cadiz, after stops in Ferrol and Marin.
Following the Christmas tradition of her family, Leonor will attend on Epiphany Day at the home of her maternal grandfather, Jesús Ortiz, accompanied by her parents and her sister, the Infanta Sofía, to enjoy the roscón.
However, her stay in Zarzuela will be brief. Only two days after the family reunion, Leonor will have to prepare her luggage again and say goodbye to her loved ones to embark on one of the most outstanding adventures of her military training.
During her free time, the princess has made the most of every moment with her parents and sister.
Last December 22, they made a surprise visit to the areas of Catarroja, el Palmar and l’Albufera, all affected by the floods, where they received the affection of the people.
