On July 12, she will embark on her first official solo trip to Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.
The invitation came from the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo, as a gesture of friendship between the two European nations.
Traditionally, during an official visit by a royal family member, a gala dinner is held, and guests, in this case, Princess Leonor, wear formal attire and tiaras. However, this visit will be a bit different.
Will Princess Leonor wear a tiara in Portugal?
Although many expect to see the princess don her first royal tiara, it appears we’ll have to wait a little longer.
Since the trip is a same-day round-trip, the typical gala dinner usually held during longer official visits won’t take place.
Instead, a more informal lunch has been scheduled in honor of the princess’s visit.
Royal jewels always pique interest, and Princess Leonor has access to some impressive pieces.
Among them are the Floral, Russian, Fleur-de-Lis, and Cartier tiaras, previously worn by her mother, Queen Letizia, her grandmother, Queen Sofia, and her aunts, Infantas Elena and Cristina.
However, it seems this occasion won’t provide an opportunity to showcase these jewels. There are no other state visits to Spain planned for 2024 that would allow the princess to act as a hostess at a gala in the Royal Palace.
Nevertheless, the trip to Lisbon marks an important milestone on her path to the throne, and it will undoubtedly be a memorable day for the young heir.
