Since her departure aboard the training ship Juan Sebastián Elcano, Princess Leonor has been at the center of close visual monitoring by the Royal Household.
The first stop of her voyage, Salvador de Bahia in Brazil, has now become the scene of detailed coverage that has allowed the public to follow her experience on the high seas.
Princess Leonor in Salvador de Bahia
During the days prior to her arrival and at the time of docking, several images were broadcast capturing the development of the trip.
Upon her arrival, the Princess was greeted with a full schedule of activities organized in collaboration with the Bahia State Tourism Secretariat.
One of the most significant events was the visit of the 75 midshipmen to various historical sites, followed by a floral tribute to the fallen members of the Armed Forces.
The ship’s destination was not chosen at random. Salvador de Bahia commemorates this year the 400th anniversary of its recovery from Dutch hands, a historic event carried out by a Spanish-Portuguese fleet under the command of Admiral Fadrique de Toledo.
This anniversary gives a special significance to the presence of the training ship in Brazilian territory, marking its first stop in the American continent after having sailed from Spain last January.
With its sights set on the next destinations, the ship will continue its voyage to Montevideo, Chile, Peru, Panama, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and, finally, the United States.
The expedition will conclude in July, when Princess Leonor will return home after six months of training on board.
In the meantime, the Royal House will continue to share details of her journey, allowing the public to witness this unique experience of the heir to the throne.
