Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia make the most of their vacation in the Balearic Islands with a fun nautical excursion in the Bay of Palma.
The sisters set sail with several friends, practicing a favorite pastime of their seafaring family away from royal duties.
Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia in Mallorca
Few details have emerged about the private outing, beyond the fact that Leonor and Sofia boarded a sailboat with trusted companions to enjoy the idyllic sun and sea of Mallorca.
The princesses were reportedly prepared with hearty snacks to prolong their idyllic time on the water.
Although the sisters grew up summering in Mallorca, this is the first time they have sailed solo from shore.
Given the heavy tourist traffic on the island, there is a possibility that other vacationers may have captured photos or videos of the young royals on the high seas.
As Princess Leonor, 17, and Infanta Sofia, 15, grow into young adults, their interests and social lives are beginning to change.
The sisters likely recognize that this is their last summer before new chapters fundamentally reshape their bond.
Next month, Leonor will begin military training at the academy in Zaragoza, while Sofia will begin a two-year international baccalaureate program in Wales.
So the princesses seem determined to cherish their last memories together, with a balance of family and youthful exploration.
So far, the Spanish royal family’s only public appearance has been at the Jardin de Alfabia, one of Mallorca’s most famous sites, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011.
