Princess Leonor has had her first experience in a real combat exercise with naval fire, participating as an observer in the controlled sinking of the tugboat A51 Mahón during high-intensity military maneuvers carried out by the Spanish Navy south of the Canary Islands.
The operation, known as Sinkex 25, featured the submarine S81 Isaac Peral, which fired a live torpedo at a naval target for the first time.
Princess Leonor Joins Real Naval Combat Exercise
The tugboat Mahón, decommissioned in 2024 after 45 years of service, was the target of this exercise, which simulates real war scenarios.
The maneuver was part of the deployment of Combat Group Dédalo 25, in which Leonor continues her training as part of her time in the Navy.
The heir to the throne embarked on June 14 on the frigate F103 Blas de Lezo, one of the units participating in the operation alongside the Juan Carlos I, the Galicia, the Castilla, the Santa María, and the Álvaro de Bazán.
