In an event steeped in tradition and solemnity, Leonor de Borbón will join her fellow cadets to commemorate the 139th anniversary of the founding of the General Military Academy in Zaragoza.

This celebration, which dates back to the signing of the founding decree by King Alfonso XII in 1885, promises to be a spectacle of military honor and pride, in which the heiress to the throne will play a prominent role.

The day will begin with an impressive military parade in the Academy’s Patio de Armas, where cadets, attired in uniforms from different eras, will pay honors to the authorities present.

The ceremony will be loaded with symbolism, with the invocation of the Patron Saints, the reading of Royal Decrees, and the imposition of decorations and awards, such as Lieutenant Cabrelles and Commander Ezquerro.

One of the highlights will be the appointment of the new Honorary Knight Cadet, a title awarded annually to personalities who have stood out for their support and dedication to the Academy.

After a speech by the director, Manuel Pérez López, tribute will be paid to those who have given their lives for Spain, culminating with a parade of the Alumni Group along the Avenida del Ejército.

As a second-year cadet, the Princess of Asturias will be an integral part of these commemorative activities, demonstrating her commitment and discipline in the military.

Her participation in this historic event reinforces her preparation to assume the responsibilities that await her in the future as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.

While Leonor celebrates this event in Zaragoza, her father, King Felipe VI, will visit the NATO Headquarters in Mons, Belgium, in a sign of the close ties between the Royal House and military institutions.

After this celebration, the Princess will resume classes until March 11, when she will face a new training period at Camp San Gregorio.

There, she will undergo rigorous training that will include tactical exercises, weapons handling, physical training, and combat drills, sleeping in tents, and restrictions on the use of mobile devices.

This experience at the General Military Academy will not only forge Leonor de Borbón’s character and skills but will also give her a unique perspective on military life and the sacrifice of those who defend Spain.
