Princess Leonor de Borbón has started this Friday, February 2, a new and demanding phase of her military training at the General Academy of the Spanish Army in Zaragoza, Spain.
It is an intensive week of physical and tactical training that will take place at the Campo de San Gregorio facilities until February 9.
Princess Leonor’s military training February 2024
Leonor faces in San Gregorio grueling exercises of endurance and fatigue similar to those she overcame when she joined the academy last August.
Activities focus on physical tests, weapons practice, military formations, field orientation, and combat drills.
Unlike day-to-day life at the academy, during this training phase, the princess is not allowed to use a cell phone or have any outside contact, to ensure her total dedication.
They also do not return to the academy to sleep but stay overnight at the nearby Camp Maria Cristina.
The food also changes, now based on what is known as “combat rations”.
These are small boxes of easily prepared dehydrated food including meat, sausages, cookies, canned food, and isotonic drinks.
Leonor will repeat this intensive one-week program in two more periods, March 11-22 and May 27-June 7.
It is hoped that thanks to this demanding training at San Gregorio, the heiress to the Spanish throne will continue to consolidate the physical abilities and mettle necessary for her future.
