A few days ago the Spanish Royal House announced that Princess Leonor would complete her military training as King Felipe did. This step is one of the most important in the preparation to become king or queen of Spain, as is the case of the princess. However, it seems that not everyone agrees.
Next September, the Spanish heiress will assume a new role and will have to spend three years in the Land, Sea, and Air Armies. The first stop will be at the General Academy of Zaragoza, in the section destined for the Army.
Queen Letizia does not want military training for Leonor
The expert on Spanish royalty, Pilar Eyre published that Queen Letizia, mother of Leonor, is not happy with her daughter entering the Military Academy.
“Felipe (The King) managed to convince Letizia after days of great tension, with slamming doors and shouting,” says Eyre, who also commented that the talks were not easy.
Letizia does not like not being able to make decisions about her daughter’s future. In addition, it has been difficult for her to accept that Leonor “belongs to the state”. “It is no longer her mother who guides her steps, but the government”, writes the journalist.
One of the things that annoyed the queen has been that Leonor has to postpone her university studies and give priority to the Military Academy. It should be mentioned that Letizia has never been a supporter of the military figure, but once married to King Felipe she has known closely the workings of the Army.
Leonor, who will turn 18 in October, is already paving her own path to the Spanish throne.
