    At 50 Meters High! Princess Leonor Faced Her First Challenge Aboard the Elcano

    On Wednesday, January 8, in FamilyRoyal.news, we reported that Princess Leonor formally began her training as first midshipman aboard the training ship “Juan Sebastián de Elcano”.

    The event, which took place in the port of Cadiz, marked a key moment in the preparation of the heiress to the Spanish throne within the naval field.

    On her arrival, she was received by the ship’s Captain and Commander, Luis Carreras-Presas do Campo, and accompanied by the Second Commander Frigate Captain, Carlos Carrasco Marín, according to the Royal House.

    During the reception, the Princess greeted several officers responsible for her training and the general operation of the ship.

    After the protocol greetings, Leonor moved to the Commander’s Chamber, where she held a more relaxed meeting with the team of officers in charge of her training.

    Each of them explained their functions and the role they will play in the training of the princess during the coming months.

    On Thursday, January 9, Leonor began her first training and training activities.

    During the day, the midshipmen took part in various practices, among them seafaring instruction and maneuvers, including climbing the ship’s masts.

    The heiress to the throne climbed one of the 50-meter-high masts with ease.

    Leonor dressed in sportswear and without ever looking down, the eldest daughter of the kings has climbed with determination to reach the top and then descend.

    This is a test that each and every one of the young midshipmen goes through, and having succeeded the first time confirms that she is in great physical condition.

    These activities seek not only to promote technical skills, but also teamwork and mental strength, fundamental aspects of naval life.

    Once they are at sea it will be a much more complicated task due to the continuous movement of the ship, hence it is essential that everyone passes this test at this time when the ship is docked in port.

    This first contact with the ship’s routine is a significant step in the training of the Princess of Asturias, who will continue her preparation over the next six months aboard the Elcano.
