After half a year of training aboard the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano, Princess Leonor is about to make her public reappearance.
Her return to Spain will be marked by several important moments, including the presentation of one of the highest regional awards.
When will Leonor reappear from Spain?
On July 14, the Government of Galicia will award her the Gold Medal, an award reserved for those who have stood out for their service to the community.
With this distinction, Leonor joins a list that already includes her grandfather, King Juan Carlos, awarded in 1985.
The ceremony will take place at a symbolic moment. That same month, the princess will resume her naval training aboard the frigate Blas de Lezo, with stops planned in Gijón, Ferrol and Marín.
In the latter town, she will be named “Hija Predilecta” (Favorite Daughter), in recognition of her commitment to military training.
She will take part in the traditional presentation of the Naval School’s diplomas, scheduled for July 16, coinciding with the feast of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of sailors.
Leonor began her military career after completing the International Baccalaureate at the UWC Atlantic College in Wales.
Since entering the General Military Academy of Zaragoza, she has followed a similar path to the one followed by King Felipe VI.
In October 2023, he appeared for the first time in the dress uniform of the Spanish Army during the Día de la Hispanidad.
Shortly after, in August, he entered the Escuela Naval de Marín as a midshipman, where he made his debut in the white uniform of the Navy.
