Princess Leonor, heir to the throne of Spain, is facing a significant moment in her life, marked by the recognition of her work and dedication.
Having resided in Zaragoza since her entrance to the Military Academy in August 2023, the princess is preparing to receive not just one, but three honors in the coming week:
The Medal of the Cortes de Aragón, the Medal of Aragón, and the title of Adoptive Daughter of Zaragoza.
These recognitions underscore her commitment to the region that has welcomed her during her formative years.
Interestingly, on this remarkable occasion, Princess Leonor will be without the company of her parents, the King and Queen of Spain.
The absence of King Felipe and Queen Letizia has sparked questions and speculation.
Why won’t the King and Queen of Spain be with Princess Leonor?
According to reports from Spanish media, neither King Felipe nor Queen Letizia will attend the ceremony.
The official agenda of the Royal Household only includes Leonor’s name for the event, leaving Queen Letizia with no commitments assigned for that day and King Felipe VI with prior activities at the Zarzuela Palace and another commitment in Madrid in the afternoon.
Although the presence of Felipe and Letizia is not listed in the official program, this does not rule out the possibility that they may decide to accompany their daughter unexpectedly, offering their support on such an important day. Especially Queen Letizia, whose agenda appears to be free, could surprise everyone with her appearance.
This weekend, coinciding with the lead-up to the event, Queen Letizia is scheduled to attend an event in Zaragoza.
Although it has not been confirmed, there is anticipation that she may take the opportunity to visit Princess Leonor.
Acknowledgments to Princess Leonor
In terms of the recognition of Princess Leonor, she will be honored with the Medal of the Cortes de Aragón, the highest decoration granted by the parliament in recognition of her loyalty and respect for the Crown and the service she represents.
Later, at the Zaragoza City Hall, she will be awarded the title of Adoptive Daughter of the city.
The day will conclude with the awarding of the Medal of Aragon, thus adding another prestigious recognition to the heiress to the throne.
