A decade ago, on June 19, 2014, the then Prince of Asturias, Felipe, ascended to the throne as King of Spain after his father, King Juan Carlos, abdicated.
This marked the beginning of King Felipe VI’s reign, with Queen Letizia at his side and Princess Leonor becoming the heir to the throne, assuming the title of Princess of Asturias at the age of 8.
To celebrate this milestone, the Royal Household organized a series of events that began with a grand military parade along Calle Mayor, featuring units from the three branches of the military and the Civil Guard.
From the balcony overlooking the Armory Square, opposite Almudena Cathedral, the royal family witnessed the impressive display.
Princess Leonor’s New Red Suit
For this special occasion, Princess Leonor opted for a striking red two-piece suit by Roberto Verino.
The ensemble, featuring a minimalist design, included a classic blazer and high-waisted trousers made from crepe fabric.
The blazer, with a single-button front closure, marked shoulders, long sleeves, side flap pockets, and regular length, was complemented by wide-leg trousers with front pleats.
This elegant outfit, available in the current collection of the Galician designer, is priced at 370 euros (about $400) for the blazer and 180 euros (about $195) for the trousers.
Leonor’s look aimed to let the bold color shine without overshadowing the accessories.
For the tenth anniversary of her father’s reign, Leonor wore the Order of the Golden Fleece, a prestigious distinction granted by the Spanish Royal Family, which both father and daughter displayed on their jacket lapels.
In addition to the Order of the Golden Fleece, Leonor completed her look by borrowing one of Queen Letizia’s favorite pairs of earrings from the royal jewelry collection.
These are the Gold & Roses earrings from the Needle I Am collection, crafted from rose gold, diamonds, and rubies.
Princess Leonor’s presence at the celebrations was highly anticipated. The eldest daughter of the King and Queen of Spain is one of the most influential young royals.
