The arrival of the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano in Valparaíso aroused interest in the historic vessel of the Spanish Navy, but also because of the presence on board of Princess Leonor.
Thousands of people came to the Chilean port to see the ship and, above all, the heiress to the Spanish throne, which is one of the most symbolic stages of her military training.
Princess Leonor Steals the Spotlight in Valparaiso
Despite the recent controversy generated by some images of her in a bikini, the Princess of Asturias was close and relaxed, according to some visitors to Monarquía Confidencial and the photos published.
According to sources close to Zarzuela, the young woman confessed to feeling “a little overwhelmed” by the media repercussion, but in Chile she has been seen “with total normality”.
In Zarzuela, the publication of the photographs set off alarm bells. Concern was not only focused on the damage to Leonor’s public image, but also on the fear of further intrusion into her private life.
Queen Letizia, according to close sources, would be particularly affected by the episode and determined to protect her daughter from any media excess.
Even so, from the Royal Household environment they assure that calm reigns now. However, they qualify the leak as an “invasion” of the privacy of the princess.
Leonor continues her voyage with the Navy. After four days in Valparaiso, the ship has set sail for El Callao, Peru, where it is scheduled to arrive on April 18 and remain until April 22.
