Princess Leonor is nearly done with the first part of her training in the armed forces.
To mark the end of her course, the cadets from her class will visit the Artillery Academy in Segovia next week.
Princess Leonor travels to Segovia
The oldest child of King Felipe and Queen Letizia will join them, as confirmed by the Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, during her visit to the academy last Friday.
The future queen, currently in her second year at the Military Academy in Zaragoza, will head to the city of Segovia on Tuesday, May 14th, and her visit is expected to last until Thursday, May 16th.
This is an extra activity meant to show how the oldest military education center in the world operates, founded by Count Gazola in 1764.
The academy hasn’t officially confirmed Princess Leonor’s attendance, but they haven’t denied it either, as reported by ‘El Diario de Segovia.’
Military school sources explained that Leonor’s participation depends on her royal schedule, so there might be last-minute changes.
What’s certain is that if she joins her classmates on this trip, King Felipe VI’s daughter will have passed the written exams of her final tests.
Only those who pass these exams have the right to visit the Artillery Academy.
This visit is part of Leonor’s military training program, which she started in August 2023.
Over the next two years, the princess will also spend time with the Navy at the Naval School in Marín (Pontevedra) and with the Air Force at the General Academy in San Javier (Murcia).
This journey, which her father and grandfather also undertook, began at the Military Academy in Zaragoza.
Leonor is facing the last few weeks of this course, which ends on June 19th. Ahead of her are final exams and the last period of military training and maneuvers.
It will be in early July when the future queen will bid farewell to the place that has been her home and her classmates for this year.
Her final duty will be to hand out commissions to the cadets leaving the academy.
