Princess Leonor’s life as the future heir to the Spanish throne is constantly under public scrutiny.
At 18 years old, the daughter of King Felipe and Queen Letizia tries to keep certain aspects of her private life away from the media, although this is often a difficult task.
One of those aspects are her personal trips, which despite efforts to keep them secret, end up coming to light. This was the case of their recent getaway to Amsterdam.
Princess Leonor in Amsterdam
According to sources close to the Royal House, the Princess of Asturias made a private trip to the capital of the Netherlands in April.
The highlight of this trip is that Leonor did it without the company of her parents, the King and Queen, or her sister, the Infanta Sofia.
However, as usual on her trips, she was accompanied by a couple of agents from her security team to ensure her protection.
This type of measures are common for any member of the royalty, even when it comes to trips of a personal nature, such as this one.
Despite attempts to keep the trip private, the princess’ movement did not go unnoticed. Sources consulted by Monarchy Confidential have pointed out that “it is very difficult to keep these trips secret”, which highlights the popularity of the princess.
Although Leonor usually tries to go unnoticed, using commercial flights and keeping a low profile, her figure is difficult to ignore.
“She did not cover up at any time and was just another passenger in economy class,” sources revealed.
The reason for her trip to the Netherlands was to spend a few days of private relaxation with friends.
This private trip also draws attention due to the coincidence with the official visit made by King Felipe and Queen Letizia to the Netherlands in the same month of April.
Although it has not been confirmed whether or not Leonor coincided with her parents in Amsterdam, the possibility that the two trips were connected remains a possibility.
Leonor’s upcoming public appearances
October will be an important month for Princess Leonor, as she has several key appointments on her agenda.
On October 12, she is expected to participate in the traditional Columbus Day Parade, accompanied by her parents and sister. This event is one of the most important in the official calendar of the Royal Household.
Then, on October 25, Leonor will experience one of the highlights of her public career so far: the Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony.
This will be her first year participating in the event as an adult, and she is expected to preside over the ceremony solo, which would mark a milestone in her role as heir to the throne.
