Last week, Queen Emeritus Sofia was admitted to the Ruber International Clinic due to a urinary infection and remained in the hospital for four days.
Although initially, the news of her hospitalization caused some concern, La Zarzuela soon reported that her evolution was rapid and favorable, which reassured the royal family and royal supporters.
Princess Leonor worried about the health of her grandmother Sofía
During her hospitalization, Sofia of Greece received the love and attention of her family, including King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia and Infanta Cristina, as well as the contact and interest of her granddaughter, Princess Leonor.
The Spanish portal, Monarquía Confidencial, has been able to learn that the emerita Sofía received a call from the heir to the throne.
According to sources close to the General Military Academy, the Princess of Asturias kept in touch with her grandmother those days to know the details of her evolution.
“They spoke on the phone and chatted for a few minutes, taking advantage of the visit of Felipe VI, who passed her his cell phone,” they say.
The same sources explained that at no time did La Zarzuela consider requesting an exit permit for Princess Leonor to travel to Madrid and visit her grandmother in the medical center.
“Her condition was not serious, so it was not necessary for her to go in person. None of her grandchildren have done so,” they add.
The lady cadet has continued with her classes as normal and is currently immersed in the last phase of her training in Zaragoza.
Leonor is concentrating on beginning the last instruction and training that she will face in a few weeks, according to sources close to La Zarzuela.
