The Congress of Deputies has made special modifications to adapt the hemicycle to the unique circumstances of the day in which the heiress will take a step forward in her institutional life and acquire the ability to succeed her father without the need for a regency.
The streets and balconies will be decorated with Spanish flags and a large crowd is expected in the places set up to watch the swearing-in ceremony of the Congress.
The institutional act will be broadcast live in the Plaza de Callao, and the streets of the capital have been filled with photographs of the Princess of Asturias.
In addition, some of the most emblematic buildings of the country will be illuminated with the colors of the Spanish flag.
To celebrate Princess Leonor’s birthday and the oath of allegiance to the Constitution, free cakes will be distributed at the Puerta del Sol.
These cakes are made with a base of almond sponge and orange diplomatic cream, with a decoration on top representing the colors of the Spanish flag in raspberry and lemon jelly.
The artisans have been working around the clock since Friday to ensure that all the sweets are ready for this special day, commissioned by the Guild of Pastry Cooks.
