Princess Leonor is already in shape and she showed it in her first trip to the sea where she was seen integrated with her classmates.
Using the academy’s training boats, the Princess of Asturias participated in naval maneuvers that included man overboard pick-up exercises and docking and undocking practices.
Princess Leonor’s First Days at Naval Academy
However, at the beginning of her stay at the academy, there was some concern among the commanders about her physical condition, as she was not in the optimal condition expected.
“She is not ready to keep up with the pace of training,” sources close to the Marin base commented at the time to the web portal Monarquia Confidencial.
With this in mind, it was decided to implement measures to ensure that Leonor did not fall behind the rest of her teammates.
Despite this initial obstacle, the princess has demonstrated a determined and committed attitude. Those in charge of monitoring her progress have been pleased with her behavior and dedication.
“She is very involved, collaborates with her classmates and is eager to learn,” those in charge of her training expressed with satisfaction.
One of the moments that stood out was her participation in a sports competition between brigades, in which her team won. Although he was not yet in outstanding physical condition at the time, his enthusiasm for the victory was evident when, together with his teammates, he celebrated first place with hugs and joy.
As the days went by, and thanks to the intensity of the physical training, Leonor’s performance has improved notably. Academy sources have pointed out that, although at the beginning she was not at the required level, she has overcome each challenge with determination.
The routine at the Naval Academy is not easy
As explained by the academy’s director, Pedro Cardona, the regime is strict and very similar to that of a military boarding school. The days start early, at 06:45 in the morning, with students getting ready for the day.
After breakfast, they must arrange their rooms and pass a housekeeping inspection at 07:50.
Classes take up a large part of the day, with five hours in the morning and three in the afternoon, plus one hour a day dedicated to gymnastics.
Weekends offer a small respite from this intense routine. Saturday morning is a school day, but from 12:30 onwards, students are allowed to go out. Depending on their year of study, they can return later to the boarding school, which gives them a little more freedom.
With a positive attitude and a performance that continues to improve, Leonor de Borbón seems to be exceeding initial expectations at the Naval Military Academy.
