Last Saturday, January 11, 2025, Princess Leonor began her adventure aboard the ship Juan Sebastian Elcano, where she will spend the next six months.

From RoyalFamily.news, we have reported that the future queen will face somewhat extreme conditions, especially considering her usual lifestyle.

For starters, her privacy will be quite limited; she will share her cabin with three other people, and the spaces, including the bathroom, will be cramped. But that’s not all.

Facing the sea also brings with it a number of potential health problems that could complicate her journey.

    Princess Leonor’s Health Problems

One of the biggest health challenges that could present itself for Princess Leonor will be seasickness, a common effect that occurs when the vestibular system, which is in charge of balance, is confused by the motion of the ship, reports the press in Spain.

In other words, while her inner ear senses the movement, her eyes may not be in sync, resulting in that unpleasant feeling of seasickness. There is also the risk of “ground sickness.”

This vertigo disorder can appear when you disembark, causing you to feel disoriented even while on land. Although the symptoms usually last only a few minutes, they can extend to hours or days if the voyage has been a long one.

If you engage in activities such as scuba diving, sudden changes in pressure may cause barotrauma, a condition that causes anything from a plugged feeling in the ears to severe pain and, in extreme cases, rupture of the eardrum.

Leonor wore two new sports accessories from her military closet.

In addition to the physical problems, the enclosed conditions of the boat can lead to complicated mental and emotional situations.

Spending so much time in a confined environment can cause everything from musculoskeletal problems to mood disorders, such as depression or anxiety, generated by the isolation and daily routine.

Although Princess Leonor is ready to live this interesting experience aboard the Juan Sebastián Elcano, we cannot ignore the challenges she will have to face during these six months at sea. For her, it will be a period full of learning, but also of self-improvement.
