Princess Leonor is about to complete a key stage in her military training with the arrival of the training ship Juan Sebastián Elcano in New York, scheduled for June 5.
It will be her last stop before returning to Spain, although she will not be traveling with the rest of her classmates, but by plane, as King Felipe VI did at the time.
During these months at sea, the heir to the throne has actively participated in the ship’s duties, reinforcing her training as a midshipman.
Princess Leonor’s return to Spain
Back home, Leonor will continue her military training with a new experience aboard a Navy frigate for a month.
She will be reunited with her classmates on July 7 in Gijón, and together they will visit Ferrol between the 9th and 12th, before docking in Marín on the 14th.
Two days later, the Day of Carmen, patron saint of the Spanish Navy, will be celebrated, when the king will personally present the new officers, including his eldest daughter, with their commissions.
Before the end of July, she is expected to attend the 2025 Princess of Girona Awards ceremony alongside the King and Queen and Infanta Sofía, before beginning her summer break.
Once the summer is over, the princess will begin a new phase at the General Air Academy in San Javier, Murcia. There, she will enroll as a cadet and begin a master’s degree in Aerospace Military Engineering with a 60-credit curriculum designed in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
