Princess Leonor of Spain continues to make progress in her preparation to assume the throne in the future, and this dedication has been instrumental in cultivating her independence.
She is currently at the Naval Academy, where she will spend a year in military training. However, this commitment has not been an obstacle for her to lead a life that, although marked by certain privileges, resembles that of any young woman her age.
At only 18 years old, the daughter of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia is at a stage of her life in which it is essential to enjoy experiences typical of her youth.
These moments allow her to distance herself, albeit briefly, from the demands of the public sphere and the protocol that accompanies her in each of her appearances.
Princess Leonor’s Travels
Recently, the Princess of Asturias has reaffirmed her autonomy, prioritizing her personal well-being. According to press reports, when Leonor has free time, she makes the most of it.
Last weekend, which coincided with the birthday of her mother, Queen Letizia, she decided to visit friends instead of staying at home.
This Saturday, Princess Leonor was in Zaragoza, where she completed her first year of military training last year. The trip was an opportunity to reconnect with her classmates from the General Military Academy, with whom she maintains close relations.
According to ‘El Heraldo’, the heiress was present at a military ceremony, a gesture that underlines her support for her classmates before enjoying some time with them, participating as one more in various activities.
On the other hand, they also report that Leonor chose to integrate with her companions in Zaragoza, without seeking the limelight and respecting her desire to keep those moments private.
Although it has not been officially confirmed whether on Sunday, September 15, Letizia’s birthday, she traveled to Madrid to visit her, other sources suggest that Leonor did spend part of that special date in the company of her mother.
In this context, Infanta Sofia was the only one absent, as her return from Wales to Spain was more complicated. The trip to Zaragoza has not been the only indication of the princess’s independence in recent months.
In April, she made a trip to New York of which hardly any information was circulated until her return. This type of getaway reflects that, without neglecting her responsibilities to the Crown, Leonor is at a stage in which she also seeks to enjoy life like any other young woman of her age.
