Sneakers, especially white ones, are the latest trend among royal women.
Queen Letizia wears them due to a foot condition, Princess Charlène sports a Louis Vuitton pair, and now Princess Sofia of Sweden has joined the trend.
At her youngest son Prince Julian’s first official event, she chose to pair a floral dress with stylish white sneakers.
When each of King Carl XVI Gustaf’s grandchildren were born, they were given a duchy. Prince Julian, the youngest in the family, received the duchy of Halland, a southern province in Sweden.
It’s customary for young dukes and duchesses to visit their duchies, and on Monday morning, Prince Julian, accompanied by his parents, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, did just that.
Beaming with joy, Julian inaugurated a children’s playground at Naturum Getterön, near Varberg.
The young Duke of Halland charmed the press with his playful antics. At three years old, dressed in shorts and a yellow Ralph Lauren sweater, he ran and played throughout the park, closely watched by his parents.
Princess Sofia in Floral Dress by Lilli Jahilo
Princess Sofia made a wise choice with her comfortable sneakers, as she often had to chase after Julian and carry him around. Her white sneakers, with a modern platform design, proved to be both stylish and practical.
Thanks to Sweden’s warm weather, Sofia opted for a summer-appropriate floral dress by Lilli Jahilo.
The Wallis dress features short sleeves, a midi length, a relaxed upper section with a bias cut, and a fitted waist that flows into knife pleats at the hips.
This chic dress is priced at US$1,800.
Julian, known for his mischievous nature, is the third child of Carl Philip and Sofia. The royal couple celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary on June 13.
They first became parents in April 2016 with the birth of Prince Alexander, now eight years old.
In August 2017, they welcomed their second son, Prince Gabriel, who is six years old. Completing the trio, Prince Julian was born on March 26, 2021.
Prince Julian is seventh in line to the Swedish throne, following his aunt Victoria; her children, Estelle and Oscar; his father, Prince Carl Philip; and his older brothers, Alexander and Gabriel. Behind him in the succession line are his aunt Madeleine and her three children, Leonore, Nicolas, and Adrienne.
Julian was born after King Carl XVI Gustaf’s 2019 decision that only the children of the heir apparent, Victoria, would hold the title of “Royal Highness” and be part of the royal family.
Thus, while Carl Philip and Madeleine’s children are princes and princesses, they are considered part of the royal family only in name and are addressed simply as “Highnesses”.
