It seems that Queen Camilla is going through a complicated moment with her health, which in turn could generate some concerns for King Charles III.
The British consort has had to pause her royal duties due to health problems, and this has raised some alerts at Buckingham Palace.
According to an official statement, Camilla, who is 77, is dealing with a chest infection and, on the recommendation of her doctors, needs to take a short break.
This means that she will not be able to be present at the Field of Remembrance to be held this Thursday, November 7, at Westminster Abbey, London.
But beyond her own health, Camilla’s discomfort has led the king’s medical team to be a bit worried about him as well.
Queen Camilla and King Charles’ Health
Speaking of Charles, it’s worth remembering that he is a cancer patient, which makes his immune system more vulnerable.
This means that, if Camilla does not recover soon and he were to contract an infection—especially a respiratory one—it could be very detrimental to his health.
Some media, such as Germany’s Bunté, have even suggested that it might be best for Charles and Camilla to keep a physical distance for a while, at least while she recovers.
The reason behind this concern is that those undergoing chemotherapy, as is the case with Charles, are at greater risk of infections.
Chemotherapy can weaken the immune system by reducing the white blood cells in the blood, a condition known as neutropenia.
This is serious. An infection can lead to sepsis, a response by the body that can be life-threatening, which becomes a medical emergency that cannot be ignored.
Fortunately, Camilla appears to be improving. It has been reported that, in next week’s diary, she already has an event scheduled, suggesting that her brief rest has helped.
From Buckingham, they are even optimistic about her attendance at the traditional Remembrance Sunday ceremony on November 10, and there are plans for her to be present at the premiere of the movie “Gladiator II.”
So, although the situation has been delicate, everything seems to point to the fact that Camilla is recovering and will soon be able to resume her role as royal consort.
