Queen Camilla attended today with King Charles the State Opening of Parliament 2023, a solemn act that marks the beginning of the legislature after the coronation of the new monarch in May.
For the occasion, the King’s wife chose a look of great elegance and symbolism, wearing one of the most emblematic jewels of the British Crown: the George IV Diadem of State, a piece of gold and diamonds created for the coronation of King George IV in 1820 and worn only by queens.

Queen Camilla completed her outfit with a white dress by Bruce Oldfield, the same dress she wore for the coronation of her husband, King Charles, last May.
Camilla wanted to add a special detail: the personalized embroidery, which includes flowers, a crown, the names of her children and grandchildren, and the silhouettes of her two dogs, Beth and Bluebell.
With this look, Queen Camilla wanted to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth, who also wore the George IV tiara on several occasions, and to demonstrate her role as consort to King Charles, who wore the Imperial Crown during the ceremony.
