Camilla, Queen Consort By Lillian Torres

Queen Camilla Wears the Stunning Kokoshnik Tiara Worn by Queen Elizabeth on Her Wedding Day

Queen Camilla surprised not only with her presence at the State Banquet in honor of the Emir of Qatar but also with the impressive jewelry she wore at this event.

Although 77-year-old Camilla did not attend all the activities related to the reception for the Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his first wife, Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, her appearance at the banquet was iconic, paying tribute to the late Elizabeth II.

On this occasion, the wife of King Charles appeared in her most sophisticated attire: a red velvet dress designed by Fiona Clare, complemented by the spectacular diamond Kokoshnik tiara, which belonged to her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II.

In addition, Camilla chose the City of London fringed necklace, one of Elizabeth II’s favorite pieces, created by the late queen.

The earrings that adorned her outfit are part of her personal collection.

The Kokoshnik tiara, adorned with diamonds, has a rich heritage, having been inherited by Mary of Teck from Queen Alexandra of Denmark in 1925.

This tiara was created in 1888 to emulate one worn by Alexandra’s sister, Maria Fyodorovna Romanova. Elizabeth II first wore it publicly during her Commonwealth tour in 1954 and continued to wear it throughout her reign.

At the Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani banquet, she opted for a more subtle design: a cape dress with open sleeves in a burgundy shade, this season’s color.
