Camilla’s inaugural visit to France as the Queen of the United Kingdom is a noteworthy event. The consort of King Charles arrived in the French capital on Wednesday, September 20, and her arrival was truly stylish.
Over the past few years, the Queen has refined her fashion sense, consistently adorning herself in elegant and sophisticated attire.
Queen Camilla in France
Upon their arrival in the country, King Charles and Queen Camilla were warmly welcomed by hosts Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron.
The royal couple received the highest honors, and the red carpet was unfurled for their arrival. This marks their second state visit during their reign, with the first one taking place in Germany last March.
Camilla chose a classic pink outfit, comprising a subtly designed mid-length coat cinched at the waist and a matching dress.
Her choice was simple yet elegant, designed by Fiona Clare, a trusted designer she has relied on for decades. Clare was also the creative mind behind the outfit she wore during the coronation of Charles III.
To complete her look, the Queen adorned herself with a matching headdress by the renowned Philip Treacy. The floral piece almost came loose as she disembarked from the plane, owing to the gusty winds.
She also carried a handbag by Charlotte Elizabeth, the same brand used by Meghan Markle.
Brigitte Macron and Queen Camilla at the gala dinner
For the gala dinner held at the magnificent Palace of Versailles, Queen Camilla donned an elegant, long blue dress by Dior.
She opted for an understated design featuring a voluminous skirt and a flared silhouette. This ensemble was complemented by a matching cape, crafted from the same material and of the same length as the dress.
The Queen’s elegance was nearly overshadowed by the attire of the First Lady. Brigitte Macron opted for a dress in the same shade of blue as Camilla’s.
However, Macron’s design featured a straight cut with long satin sleeves that gracefully accentuated her figure.
The addition of silver Swarovski crystals on the cuffs and waist provided a subtle yet dazzling sparkle.
Furthermore, the First Lady completed her look with two delicate hoop earrings and multiple rings adorned with emeralds, perfectly complementing her regal attire.
Queen Camilla’s Jewelry
As with the attire of the First Lady, the impact of Camilla’s outfit was greatly enhanced by her choice of accessories, particularly her jewelry.
The Queen showcased the symbolic sapphire set, which comprises a long necklace adorned with sapphires and diamonds, a pair of earrings crafted by Carrington & Co, and a complete bracelet, all of which she wore with utmost elegance.
These incredible jewels were given to Queen Elizabeth by King George VI for her wedding to Prince Philip.
The jewels consisted of a necklace of large pillow-shaped octagonal sapphires on a diamond chain and matching earrings.
The Queen altered the necklace in 1952 to remove the largest sapphire and shorten the chain. Sometime later, the larger sapphire from the necklace was reattached to the chain as a pendant, and a matching bracelet was made.
The spectacular gala dinner was graced by around 200 guests, among them actor Hugh Grant and singer Mick Jagger.
Interestingly, the evening’s menu had to be approved by Buckingham Palace since Charles was not inclined to partake in one of his least favorite French dishes, foie gras.
