It is no secret that in recent weeks the health of Queen Elizabeth II has deteriorated sharply. The monarch has been forced to decline her participation in several official events to stay at Windsor Castle, which has become her new residence.
There is much speculation about the Queen’s health, but her progressive deterioration, rather than being related to her advanced age, is undoubtedly due to the COVID-19 infection. On February 20, the British royal household reported that the 95 year old Queen had tested positive for the virus and that she had all her anti-covid doses.

The Queen herself revealed how her health has been affected by the contagion during a video call related to a telemedicine visit to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. From there she spoke with a patient identified as Asef Hussain who, like her, was also infected with the virus.
“I’m glad you are getting better. This disease leaves one very tired and exhausted, doesn’t it?” the queen revealed after Hussain told her that his brother died from the virus and also commented on the after-effects he has, to which the queen again added, “This pandemic is horrific.”
Although Buckingham Palace did not offer further details after the Queen’s contagion, these words suggest that all was not so well during her illness and subsequent recovery.
