Queen Elizabeth, 96, died on Thursday, September 8, at her residence in the Scottish Highlands at Balmoral Castle.
The longest reigning monarch in history, with 70 years on the throne, passed away after Buckingham Palace reported the Queen’s delicate condition and that she should remain under medical supervision.
London bridge is falling down
The era of Queen Elizabeth II is over. British and worldwide media echoed the news. The first members to arrive at Balmoral have been her son, Prince Charles, then came Prince William along with Prince Andrew and the Earls of Wessex.
Elizabeth II was one of the most popular members of the royal family. She always occupied the first places of popularity in spite of the fact that since 2021 she had reduced her official duties to the maximum due to her health.

Her children and grandchildren were in charge of giving the face and she, only in punctual moments, fulfilled some other duty, never completely separated from her position and she was always faithful to her first words as queen.
“I declare before you that my whole life, whether long or short, will be faithful to your service and to the service of our great imperial family, to which we all belong,” she said at her coronation in 1947, when she was only 25 years old. Since then she has survived great transformations and has seen the monarchy falter, but always come out on top.

What happens when Queen dies
Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the entire United Kingdom has entered a 12-day state of national mourning. Queen Elizabeth’s funeral is expected to begin 4 days after the death and will be at Westminster Hall.
It is believed that Queen Elizabeth’s burial is planned at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, where the remains of her mother and father and her beloved husband, Prince Philip, are buried.
When Queen Elizabeth dies her son, Prince Charles, will immediately assume the role of king (Charles III) and Camilla will become queen consort. A new coin with Charles’ face on it will also begin to be printed.
The day after the Queen’s death, Charles will make his first speech as Britain’s head of state.
