In recent years, Queen Letizia has shown her determination to maintain her privacy and break with certain traditions ingrained in the Spanish Royal Household.
One of the most notable has been her refusal to participate in snow-related activities.
This decision has marked a significant change in the image projected by the Spanish monarchy, leaving behind old protocols and adapting to the new times.
Queen Letizia does not like skiing
Queen Letizia’s relationship with snow has been complicated since her incorporation into the Royal Family.
Despite trying to adapt to the tastes of her husband, Felipe VI, by taking ski lessons, she never managed to enjoy the sport.
On one memorable occasion, in 2005, during her first experience on skis, she said with concern: “If I fall, you’ll get me out, right?”.
Although he did not suffer a fall at the time, his lack of enthusiasm for the snow was evident.
After that experience, it was more than a decade before we saw the Queen again in a snowy enclave.
It was at the Astún Resort (Huesca) in 2017, where she shared a family getaway with her daughters Leonor and Sofía.
Unlike their mother, the young princesses demonstrated their expertise in skis, a sport that unites them with their father.
This was the last time we saw Queen Letizia on skis, and judging by Felipe’s numerous solo trips to the snow in recent years, it looks like it won’t happen again.
Another thing Queen Letizia won’t do again
But if seeing Queen Letizia on skis already seems like an impossible mission, it is even more so to get a picture of her in a bathing suit.
Although it is not a tradition of the Spanish royal house, Queen Letizia is clear: she will not wear a swimsuit again.
We have to go back to August 2007 to find the first and only time she was photographed in a bikini when she was still Princess of Asturias.
On that occasion, she was captured on the bow of the iconic yacht Fortuna wearing a white two-piece while chatting animatedly with Queen Sofia.
Since then, images of the Queen in swimwear have been virtually non-existent.
The last time they were published was in 2014, during a private vacation on the Greek island of Antiparos, where a group of Spanish tourists managed to immortalize her and her family.
Since that moment, seeing the Queen in a swimsuit again has become an almost impossible task, reflecting her firm determination to maintain her privacy and avoid exposing herself to situations she considers inappropriate.
