Jaime Peñafiel, a veteran chronicler of the heart, has once again found himself at the center of controversy for some statements about Queen Letizia in a recent interview on the YouTube channel “El encuentro Secreto” (The Secret Meeting).
In it, Peñafiel speculated about the alleged fertility problems of the queen and the involvement of her sister Erika, who died in 2007, as an alleged egg donor.
These controversial statements, together with her bombshell book “Letizia y yo” (Letizia and I), have unleashed all kinds of news worldwide.
They have also led to Peñafiel’s dismissal as a columnist for the renowned Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
Jaime Peñafiel fired from his job after controversial revelations about Queen Letizia
In the YouTube above interview, Jaime Peñafiel pointed out that, according to his sources, Letizia had difficulties getting pregnant and received treatment for genetic problems.
He even went so far as to claim that the Queen’s sister, Erika Ortiz, was supposedly an egg donor so that she could conceive her daughters Leonor and Sofia.
These unfounded speculations by the veteran columnist unleashed a wave of support for Queen Letizia from various public personalities who criticized the unfounded claims about the monarch’s private life.
In parallel to this controversy, the management of El Mundo has decided to terminate its contractual relationship with Jaime Peñafiel, ending more than 20 years of collaboration with the newspaper.
Although Unidad Editorial claims that the departure of the columnist was already decided beforehand, they also recognize that the recent interview on YouTube “did not please them at all”.
Thus, the controversial and unfounded speculations about the intimate life of Queen Letizia have once again placed Jaime Peñafiel at the center of the controversy, while they have led to multiple supports for the monarch and the termination of the relationship of the veteran columnist with the newspaper El Mundo.
