Queen Letizia has opted for a blouse by a Ukrainian brand for her first appearance of the week. For many, the Spanish consort has used her outfit to send a message of support to Ukraine.
In her first engagement of the day, Queen Letizia held an audience at the Zarzuela Palace with the 24 beneficiaries of the scholarships granted by the BBVA Microfinance Foundation (FMBBVA). These scholarships are awarded to children of low-income entrepreneurs.
Later, the Queen met with representatives of the SM Group and the winners of the 45th edition of the SM Children’s and Young People’s Literature Awards, known as “El Barco de Vapor” and “Gran Angular”.
Queen Letizia in a red blouse by Ukrainian brand Etnodim
For these meetings, the Queen chose a new red linen blouse by Etnodim. The blouse is adorned with machine-stitched floral embroidery, featuring a V-neckline and billowing sleeves with elastic cuffs.
Such shirts belong to Ukrainian tradition and are known as “vyshyvanka”, and are worn on important occasions.
Each region of Ukraine has its own embroidery style, with different motifs depending on the wearer’s name, date of birth, and so on.
Based in Kyiv, Etnodim is a brand created in 2009. Its hallmark is the creation of modern ethnic garments combined with folk traditions.
Its website states that “the concept of the brand is simple and inspiring: the creation of modern ethnic garments combined with folk traditions.” The blouse worn by Queen Letizia is on sale on their website, priced at $143.
This is not the first time Queen Letizia has used her clothes to show her support for Ukraine.
In March 2022, during the presentation of the grants for social projects of the Mutua Madrileña Foundation in its 10th call, she chose a white linen blouse adorned with colorful embroidery, especially on the puffed sleeves, cuffs, and central area.
Queen Letizia paired her Ukrainian blouse with basic white straight-cut pants and white platform espadrilles by Magrit.
As for her jewelry, she wore the Tic Silver earrings she purchased a few months ago, valued at 85 euros. These earrings have a simple and natural design, with a smooth silver chain from which hangs gently a silver circle decorated with filigree.
Queen Letizia’s agenda will continue on Wednesday with the awarding of the La Caixa scholarships, an event she will preside over with the King.
